Publisher Description

Hailed as one of the leading Israeli poets, Benarroch´s poetry has been published in a dozen languages, including Urdu and Chinese. Julia Uceda considers that Benarroch holds the memory of the world in his poetry, while Jose Luis Garcia Martin thinks that his poems are more than poetry, they are a document. A witness of his time, Benarroch started writing poetry when he was 15, in English, and has always written in his mother tongue Spanish. When he was 20 he also added Hebrew to his poetry languages and he has published six poetry books in Israel. This collection includes all Benarroch's poetry translated into English or written in English and all his books The Immigrant's Lament, Take Me To The Sea, Horses and Other Doubts, The Day The Jihad Destroyed Berlin, The Teachings Of Baraka.
"If I had a nomination vote for the nobel prize he'd be in the running." Klaus Gerken, Ygdrasil editor.
Mois Benarroch was born in Tetuan/Morroco and lives in Jerusalem. He writes poetry and novels. His books have been published in Israel, Spain, U.S.A and Portugal. "Yehuda Amichai's heir" Prof. Aviad M. Kleinberg, author of Prophets in Their Own Country.

"Cool and Collected Poems is a must-have in the library of every poetry reader. Named as one of the best Israeli poets today by Natan Zach in October 19, 2005's haaretz, Mois Benarroch is indeed one of the best modern poets today on the international stage. His poetry has been published in English, Hebrew, and Spanish, and one would be hard-pressed to open up any of today's well-known poetry publications and not find a Benarroch gem inside.

Provocative, reflective, sometimes wryly humorous, always philosophical and intelligent, Mois Benarroch's poetry bears his unique mark. Cool and Collected Poems allows us to witness this unique mark in 538 pages of poetry by including every English poem Mois has written between 1990-2005. Classics such as "Buchiki Buchiki", "Horses", "The Immigrant's Lament", and "She writes a diary" are included in this volume of verse.

Not only a collection for Benarroch fans, this volume is an excellent tool for poetry students wanting to perfect their craft, seasoned writers searching for inspiration, and poetry fans who just want a good book to unwind with at the end of the day." Aurora Antonovic.
