“I really recommend it and would love to see it snapped up for television. If this is the quality of Tony J Forder’s writing then I need to read all his books as soon as I can. Cracking stuff!”

“The pace of this book left me breathless, it is relentless in darkness, speed, duplicity and nerve shredding action. I absolutely loved it.”

“What an incredible storyteller this author is, the twists and turns, red herring, betrayals and corruption of official personnel is extraordinarily clever in its complexity.”

“This is a dark story, that evolves in to a monster of a crime read, I was thoroughly engrossed in the way the story evolved, it is a thriller with a unique difference, that should be shouted about.”

“This is action packed, full of twists and turns expertly moulded together to produce a story that stands out in the ‘thriller’ genre.”

“Scream Blue Murder is a must read, great action packed book with lots of twists and turns, had me gripped right to the end.”

"Fans of Michael Connelly’s Detective Harry Bosch are going to love this series!"

“The author is hugely talented and ranks, in my opinion, with the likes of Peter James and Val McDermid.” Maggie James – bestselling author

“Just a word of warning - prepare to be in tears, on the edge of your seat and gobsmacked in equal measure. A triumph!” Liz Mistry – bestselling author

"Brilliantly written and a fascinating read that, in my opinion, could happily stand shoulder to shoulder with works from the likes of Rankin and Connelly." Steve Robb – BookieWookie blogsite

"Books like Bad to the Bone breathe new life into a sometimes stale genre and remind me why I’m such a fan of these types of novels. It was full of dark humour, well drawn characters and plenty of surprises to knock me off balance."

Tony J Forder is the author of the bestselling DI Bliss crime thriller series. Bad to the Bone, The Scent of Guilt, If Fear Wins, The Reach of Shadows, The Death of Justice, Endless Silent Scream, Slow Slicing, The Autumn Tree, Darker Days to Come, The Lightning Rod, and What Dies Inside Us will be joined in autumn 2024 by Something More to Say. There is also a prequel novella available called Bliss Uncovered.

Tony’s other books include two action-adventure thrillers, Scream Blue Murder and Cold Winter Sun, featuring reluctant hero Mike Lynch. Also, The Huntsmen and The Predators, feature DS Royston Chase, DC Claire Laney, and PCSO Alison May, both police procedural novels set in Wiltshire. In addition, Tony has written two standalone novels: a dark, psychological crime thriller, Degrees of Darkness, and a suspense thriller set in California, Fifteen Coffins.

Tony's first 8 novels were originally released by a publisher specialising in crime fiction. Each of those 8 books has subsequently been re-released under his own imprint, Spare Nib Books.

Mike Lynch’s day goes from bad to ‘Die Hard-like territory’ after witnessing an execution-style murder at a roadside stop in Tony Forder’s Scream Blue Murder. And his predicament becomes even more complicated as he manages to escape in the victim’s car only to find down the road that he is not alone in the vehicle. So begins Forder’s adrenaline rush of a book balanced between dark crime story and the murkier world of covert actions. This book is a fun, rollercoaster ride of a read, smoothly put together by Forder, who deftly manages the shifts between thrilling action, technical jargon and emotional breakthroughs in the narrative. As evidenced in his Bliss series, Forder is a master with characterization. And characters like Lynch, Terry Cochran, and even Rhino, Haystacks and Dawson (not a law firm) quickly capture your attention and feeling. You want to learn more about them and where their lives will take them, always the sign of a good book to me. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars, mainly due to a minor quibble, but I thank Forder for opening up a new facet of crime for me- that of the action packed thriller.

I enjoyed this story tremendously. It started off slow for me but picked up quickly. I’m going to get the author’s next book now!

Many thanks to the author/ Bloodhound Books for the advance digital copy of this crime thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Mike Lynch has had a really bad day. He drives hours to get to a job interview when he knows he won't get the job. When he leaves, he finds he has a flat tire ...and the spare is flat. Hours later, when he's finally on the road home, he drives into a horrific rainstorm. Pulling off, he decides to just rest or sleep for awhile ... until mother nature calls.

And from there, it really gets worse. He witnesses a man shooting and killing another man .. and the shooter happens to see Mike. And Mike is left literally running for his life.

Who was the man who was killed? Who was the shooter? Why was he killed? And who are the two people in the trunk of the victim's car?

This was a breath-taking adventure. Had me hooked from the first page. While Mike desperately looks for answers, more bodies fall and he finds himself in more danger than he ever imagined. The fear, the uncertainty is palpable. The author has a wonderful way of describing all the emotions of someone fighting for his life.

The author has jumped right in and deftly described the characters. I think he'd make a great serial character.

Mike is having a bad day and it’s about to get worse.

I am kicking myself that it has taken me so long to read Tony J Forder. I thoroughly enjoyed Scream Blue Murder because of the fast pace and the super exploration of the murky worlds of criminals and those in high office. There’s a scary presentation of just how far corruption can reach and I think reading Scream Blue Murder has opened my eyes to the potential for underhand behaviour in many levels.

I was fascinated by the way Scream Blue Murder considers that we never really know ourselves or how we might react until we are put under pressure. It was this gradual uncovering of Mike’s character and the background to his personality that really interested me, even though there is a cracking, fast paced plot to retain a reader’s attention without this added extra intensity. I felt Mike was a man with depth and breadth whom I thoroughly appreciated getting to know. I’m now desperate to read the next book to find out more. In amongst the violence and corruption that rattles through this story is the balance of Charlie’s innocence and her positive impact on the jaded Mike. I felt this element added humanity and depth to an already enticing read.

That said, it would be unfair not to praise the fabulous plot too. It is so exciting and thrilling that I found myself holding my breath as my pulse raced. I genuinely had no idea what would happen next or how Mike’s problems might resolve themselves – or if indeed they would at all. Tony J Forder knows exactly how to keep the reader guessing and their heart rate elevated. I couldn’t tear myself away as I simply had to know what happened next.

I’m concerned that Scream Blue Murder might prove to be one of those quiet books that never gets the recognition it truly deserves. I’ve read so many books that have huge success, such as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and in my opinion, Scream Blue Murder is far better, more believable, and more exciting. I really recommend it and would love to see it snapped up for television. If this is the quality of Tony J Forder’s writing then I need to read all his books as soon as I can. Cracking stuff!

I thought the whole concept around this book was clever and unusual. I am a huge Tony Forder fan and this book didn't disappoint. Every chapter revealed a new surprise, it was like a game of pass-the-parcel! The main players were so credible and the story moved along at break neck speed. Poor Mike, but what a great guy, I really warmed to him and felt invested in his ultimate outcome. Charlie and Melissa were great; I'd like a Melissa in my life. The thing with this book is that it's such a unique concept it's very hard to review without giving too much away. What I know I can say is you should definitely treat yourself to a copy of Scream Blue Murder; you can always thank me later! Great narration by Greg Wagland

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced, seat of your pants action packed book

Another great read by a talented author who knows how to pull together a fast paced storyline full of strong, interesting characters along with numerous plot twists that keep you on your toes and guessing right to the end.

During a long, late night journey home, a major accident, (causing a detour) coupled with the need to pee and stretch his legs, takes Mike into a secluded rest area and into a situation which turns his life on its head and sees him fleeing the scene in a murder victim's stolen car.

Now wanted for murder, can Mike keep, not only himself but also an innocent young child and her terrified nanny - the only people who can attest to what truly happened in that lay by - alive long enough to clear his name?

The already desperate situation gets worse when it becomes clear that not only is the real killer trying to silence him, but that the notoriously vicious brother of the man killed wants to avenge his brother's death. With both men seemingly having some level of influence over the police investigation all hope of clearing his name and even staying alive seems lost.

In desperation Mike turns to a trusted old friend for help, together they soon realise just exactly what kind of people they are dealing with and that these people are determined to silence them all, no matter the collateral damage along the way.

Fantastic book and would highly recommend.
