Tattered & Torn: The Sacred Hearts MC Book IV Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 429 ratings

Shelly Jordan’s family is full of monsters, and Reaver, her cousin, is the tamest of them all.

One night, one stupid choice, and she’s ripped to shreds, torn apart like she’s never been before. Self-isolation seems to be the best option, except the family she’s built within the Sacred Hearts Motorcycle Club is slipping through her fingers, and she can’t seem to get a grasp of anything.

Ghost would do anything to protect Shelly, but she’s too loose of a woman for him to involve himself with more than just as a protector. But he never thought she’d step away from his protection and end up hurt, and he blames himself for everything that happened to her. If only he’d known she had changed for him, hoping he’d keep her safe.

Now, he has to figure out how to put her back together again, before it’s too late.

Wow !What a story about Sac. Hearts MC ! Shelly had loved through hell raising herself with Reaver cuz by her side . Going from Clib Bunny to Old Lady after being raped once & almost the 2 nd time having to kill a man.Ghost has to change his thinking to trust her completely. They truly love each other!

Another 1 bites the dust The series is so delicious I only got a couple more books left but I'm very happy that this author has a gift when it comes to story telling Loving her

Shelley seemed like the most real character yet (could be that I personally relate to her the best) and it seemed way more like her story was the focus instead of just what was filling space between sex scenes (again, more my personal speed).

Technically speaking, this one is the smoothest so far in the series. There's always room for improvement, but my editing brain didn't trip like it did with 2 and 3. The story was way fleshed out, with a good mix of background and in-the-moment, and AJ's depictions of the psychological reactions to events is spot-on.

I also felt like I was hearing the characters speak more than the author, which is an awesome thing!

AJ's trademark imagery creates a very real world around the reader, and when you pair it with such complete characters and smoothed out technical aspects, it all comes together in a really fantastic way.

Can't wait to get my hands on 5!

loved this book! omg it was such an ugly cry for me so be warned. shelly has been through so much and traumatized so she prefers to stay at her brothers house . she feels like she is dead on the inside and just living day today. Ghost as always had a thing for shelly but they usually butt heads but when a traumatizing experience happens to shelly it is Ghost who tries to bring her back into the world of living and will do anything for her and wants her all to himself. this was such a great book . I fell in love with Ghost

These guys are supposed to love their women fiercely but go hang out in a strip club and get lap dances. Not love in my book. Disrespectful to their women and a form of cheating. Very disappointing.

Loved it!!! A well written storyline that hold your attention. It's emotional and raw at times pulling on the heartstrings while covering a real life topic. I think that's part of what makes the story seem more realistic. Shelly's life was ripped apart after one night's horrific event leaving her a shell of the person she used to be and feeling scared and unworthy. Ghost has a thing for her and feels responsible. He realized too late there was more to Shelly than the front/appearance she always showed at the MC. He wants to help heal what's broken and possibly build a relationship with her. Definitely one of my favorite in the series.

Hmmmm. I did not like Shelly in the 2nd book. But that pretty much had to do with the fact that she had to let it be known that she'd slept with Dray. I've also never really be all that into slutty girl turned good girl romance stories. I felt awful for what Shelly went through. I wasn't in love with Ghost either. He picked lousy girls to fall in love with. Key word HE. Shelly didn't have anything to do with those choices & shouldn't have to pay for the sins of others. I know it's hard to let go of that kind of hurt. The storyline was well thought out. The character to character dialogue was great. I loved hearing about past couples. Book 2 is still my favorite of the series.4 ststars for the writing, not the actual couple.

I received a copy of Tattered & Torn as I am one of AJ's very lucky Beta Readers! Unfortunately (for AJ), I was so entranced by this story that I forgot to look for mistakes!(sshh! don't tell)
Ok, here goes...
Following the tragic events in Cracked & Crushed, Shelly is a little bit broken, understandably so! The style of AJ's writing allows you to feel what Shelly feels. You connect with her whilst she comes to terms with what happened and tries to figure out who she is now. Shelly's struggle is realistic and handled with the sensitivity and patience the situation deserves. That being said, she isn't one to play the victim and her strength and determination really shine through.
And then there's a guy, I mean, there's always a guy, right?
Ghost, oh Ghost, with his guilt and regrets and 'what ifs'. He believes he played a part in Shelly's nightmare and is determined to help her any way he can. He will be whatever she needs him to be and do whatever it takes to see her smile again. He is equal parts patient and pushy, knowing when she needs a gentle nudge or just to be left alone.

The question is- Is Ghost just acting out of guilt, a misguided sense of responsibility? Or is it more?
Will Shelly believe his answer? Or allow her new insecurities to cloud her judgement?

How long is long enough? Grieving is such a personal thing....not just grieving a loss but grieving a decision and having to relive the moment that your life changed forever. Can you ever truly be whole again.... Who knows but this book is one of redemption, of clawing back some of who you are and in the midst of all the craziness finding a little happiness.

Shelley has never been one of my favourite characters, in this series. I'm not into loud brash characters, but despite that I enjoyed this book.

From start to finish the book keeps you hooked. The storyline from the females perspective is very sad and can bring things home for people who have the same sort of history.
