While Googling her name in an attempt to find herself, she unearths something so impossible, it makes her contemplate her own sanity. Seeking answers, she embarks on a journey to discover the truth, only to end up abducted by a deranged stranger who insists on calling her Caycee.

Caycee took the road less traveled. After rejecting a marriage proposal from the only decent man she ever dated, she ventured to California to become famous. Caycee must now reunite with the southern gent she dismissed eighteen years ago and convince him to accompany her to New York to locate his wifethe most important person in both their lives.

Note: Split Decisions was originally published August 2013. While there have been a few updates, this is the original story. Happy reading!

About the Author

Carmen DeSousa's stories overflow with romance, mystery, suspense, a hint of paranormal sometimes, and of course, tragedy. After all, what would a great story be without a tragic event setting the stage? All of her novels are sensual, but not erotic, gripping but not graphic and will make you cry, laugh, love, and hope. Although some of her titles clearly include supernatural or ghostly beings, her writing dances on the edge of the paranormal, in a genre referred to as magical realism. Her hope is that as you read her stories, you'll wonder, "Hmmm...what if?"

Carmen DeSousa is an internationally bestselling author of twenty-three novels and short stories. Her paranormal romantic suspense Creatus series is a USA Today Indie Romance Bestselling Series.

Her novels share her love of the outdoors. She's hiked, kayaked, and dined across the U.S., so she can bring her stories to life. Other than locations you can feel, she concentrates on the human factor, working to bring her characters the happily ever after that seems impossible.

As most authors, Carmen blames her leap into a full-time career as a professional writer on her love of reading. She states that reading has always been an escape for her. When life was rough as a child, she could always disappear into a book. But she found something else, too... She discovered that writing out her thoughts was therapeutic. Not only could she create hope for her protagonists, but she could also do away with her antagonists—legally.

Carmen currently lives in "The Heart of Arizona" with her husband of thirty-three years and a very spoiled rescue, a cross-eyed Russian Blue, who's too cute for words.

Carmen and her husband love to experience different areas, so they move a lot. They’ve lived on both of Florida’s coasts: Cocoa Beach and Tampa Bay; Charlotte, North Carolina; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Chicago, Illinois; Bullhead City, Arizona, the Northern Central Valley of California, and now Arizona’s high desert. They’re always looking for their next adventure, so they travel every chance they get. If you've read about a place in one of Carmen’s stories, she’s been there!

Both Carmen and her husband not only write, but also love to read outside—or a coffee shop if it's raining. And if the weather is really nice, they enjoy kayaking and hiking. Carmen says they rarely spend their days off at a movie theater or the mall. In fact, she hates shopping, and her husband would rather do anything than take her to a movie when she’s already read the book.

When Carmen DeSousa writes romantic suspense, she touches your heart, intrigues your mind, and keeps you entangled with enough twists and turns to take your breath away. Split Decisions is Carmen DeSousa at her best. She knows people, especially their vulnerabilities and the temptations they face. And she understands the kinds of obstacles and barriers that life places in front of them. They are forced to make choices. And when they make the wrong ones, they walk right into the middle of a Carmen DeSousa novel.
Jaynee should be happy. She isn’t. She has the perfect marriage and four wonderful children. But she feels her life is empty. Did she take the wrong road years ago? Did she make the wrong choice? She runs away from everything important to her to find out. Never would she ever suspect that her journey to discover what’s missing from her life would lead her into the clutches of a deranged stranger.

Jaynee had been searching for the truth. But where does it lie, and is it part of a nostalgic lie, does she really want to discover the truth? The romance will break your heart, then put it back together again. The mystery keeps a taut plot tightly woven together. And, at times, the suspense is unbearable. Choices may be good. Choices may be bad. But they affect our lives forever. It’s the one truth that simmers in the pages of Split Decisions.

I usually dont read books in a series but stumbled upon the first book "You belong to me." I didnt know it was in a series and read it. Once I found out I immediately purchased the next four books. I just finished "Split Decisions" and I am so glad I started this series. Jordan and Jaynee are remarkable characters I love their connection. The author did a wonderful job of telling their story. I would highly recommend this series!!! Off to read book 3.

This was the most interesting, cleverly written book . I would never have thought of this approach , to use the first book , yet write in a way that they were stand alone books . I didn't have to buy the second but I was so glad I did . Enjoyed these books so much and would always feel confident in any book by this author ! Thanks Carmen for the hours of relaxing exciting enjoyment !

I found this to be a little drawn out until the last fourth of book. Left me a little confused. Not really a fan of split personality left a lot to be explained about the before time of both women.

This is the first book I've read by this author, so I started with just the sample. When I got to the end of that, I hit the buy now button in an instant (unusual for me).

There were a few times I didn't quite feel the same way the heroine felt about certain things, but the more I thought about why... the more I understood why she felt/said/did those things (which ended up causing a lot of problems for her, of course). It really makes you think about what you'd do in her shoes.

Anyway, about the plot: Two women are searching online and find each other, seeming to be the exact same person. They decide to meet in person. Followed by the kind of life-or-death peril you'd expect in a suspense novel. They kept getting in deeper danger by the page, and though I thought I knew who the villain was and why, it turned out to be someone else. The story wasn't predictable at all.

The hero was OK, maybe a little too good to be true. I liked the heroine a lot. The romance aspect was just sensual enough and more about the relationship than about sex.

And the ending was emotionally satisfying and tied up an excellent, bizarre plot twist.

Jaynee....Caycee.....which is which? Jaynee has an incredible life, any girl's dream, from a gorgeous husband who adores her, children and fabulous career. But something is missing. She is turning 40 and feels something is just not right.

Using social media Jaynee unearths some secrets about herself? About Caycee? She goes forward to figure out these inconsistencies and thereby discovers how these two women while different, in so many ways are alike.

But what has she gotten herself into while choosing to go down this path? Has this been one of her wisest choices?

Through the amazing twists and turns of this novel, it is truly one of the best reads this summer. Beautifully crafted. Thank you Carmen DeSousa.

The first book was so good. I had a difficult time with the split person and solidfying of the two at the end of the story. I also did not like the idea that "Janey" willing let the woman take her place. Worse was the "cheating" with the wrong person by her husband, thinking it was his wife. The whole storyline just seemed so wrong.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good read mostly

I read the first book and thoroughly enjoyed it...this second book was enjoyable to an extent ..but must admit sometimes I was lost ...at the end of the book I'm still trying to work out the end explanations in the concluding of the story. A lot doesn't make sense. I guess with me being a Christian too a lot really doesn't line up with truth. I've read several other books by the author and enjoyed them but found this one leaving me thinking 'huh??'

3.0 out of 5 stars Plagiarism?

Haven't finished this yet, but am enjoying it, as I did 'She Belongs To Me', the first in the series. My first caveat so far is that this is a rip off from the Gwyneth Paltrow film, 'Sliding Doors'. Fairly well written, but another caveat, a pity that C DeS doesn't understand the difference between 'me' and 'I' and when to use them. For instance, 'He and I enjoyed it' or 'She belongs to him and me' Quite easy to check, just take out the He or Him and see which one sounds right - you wouldn't say 'Me enjoyed it' or 'She belongs to I'. One is subjective, the other objective - basic English grammar. Still, as I said, not a bad yarn.
