The magic of Christmas has been lost to Jacob Winston. At the suggestion of his ill sister, he takes a job as a Secret Santa at the mall, hoping to restore his holiday spirit. Even that doesn't seem to work, until a special little boy ambles up to make a very special wish…

Cheyenne Jensen is struggling to raise her two kids without the help of her ex-husband who causes more heartache than good. All she wants is the best for her children.

Ah, but it's Christmas time and the magic has begun.

When Jacob and Cheyenne meet, neither can deny their immediate attraction to one another, but insecurities and uncertainty plague them both.

With Christmas fast approaching, the pair learns what matters most in life. Now, if only they could ditch the ghost of Christmases past.

Is the magic of Christmas a thing of the past, or can two hearts find their match in the midst of another potentially dismal holiday?

No matter where she goes, USA Today Bestselling author Nikki Lynn Barrett hears voices in her head. Instead of calling her crazy and locking her up, her family realizes it's just a product of being an author and allows her to write the stories so that the voices shut up.

But they don't. And probably never will. There's no need to lock her up, Nikki knows she'll never escape the voices, not until each and every last story is written. And for every story she writes, about ten or more ideas pop up.

When she isn't slaving away at her computer writing books that will probably make you cry and keep you in suspense, Nikki plots to take over the world one book at a time. What? It's a sickness. One she can't escape!

Books aren't her only addiction, though. Nikki can be found making up parodies to drive her son crazy, and bantering back and forth with her husband, who somehow manages to steal her away from the fictional world she lives in all the time.

Nikki lives in Arizona with her husband and son, where she can be found using every creativity outlet she can find through music, photography, handcrafted things, and random interests that she may pick up from time to time.

A Very Beautiful Story
Jacob did not have the Christmas spirit. In fact he didn't want anything to do with Christmas. When his seriously ill sister suggested he become a mall Santa he gave it a try. It wasn't working good for him and he was going to quit until he met Ben. Jacob was so impressed with Ben that nominated Ben for an award. Cheyenne is a single mother of 2 children Ben and Desiree and she has an ex named Eric who had a tendency to show up late at night drunk wanting to see Ben. Eric wouldn't acknowledge Desiree as his so he wanted nothing to do with her. When Jacob and Cheyenne met there was instant attraction to each other and they begin a relationship. Neither wants to have someone in their lives as Jacob is not in a good place because his sister is dying and Cheyenne's ex made her feel inadequate. When Jacob would be with Cheyenne and her children he would get updates on his sister and would be upset when came back. Cheyenne was worried and the secrecy bothered her as Jacob wouldn't say anything about the phone calls. Then before Christmas, Cheyenne's ex Eric said he wanted Ben to spend Christmas Eve with Ben, Cheyenne agreed and took Ben there on Christmas Eve and then Cheyenne gets a phone call from Eric's girlfriend Petra telling Cheyenne that Ben took off and Eric was out looking for him. If you want to know more about this story you will need to get this book. You will Love it!! This is a MUST read book!! Nikki Lynn did an awesome job with this book!! I truly Loved it!!

The perfect Christmas read about the true meaning of Christmas.

Jacob is hurting really bad, his sister is sick and his Christmas spirit is shattered until a brave little boy walked into his life and changed it forever. Cheyenne is a single mother of two beautiful children, the father isn't in the picture the way he should be and she is financially struggling to make ends meet. There is no end in site, until one fateful day at the mall. When the two of them come together because of one sweet little boy, they have a Christmas they will never forget.

This book is incredibly sweet and emotional. The characters were well developed and the story line was strong and flowed well. There were a few spots that were a bit jumpy but other than that the story read well. Cheyenne is such a strong women and you can tell she is a wonderful mother. Her son Ben is an amazing boy, who is always wanting to help others and little Desiree is such a sweet little girl. Just let me say that heroes aren't the only fantasies in romance books, lol, this little boy is one any mother would be proud of.
Jacob is the perfect guy *sigh* He swept into Cheyenne's life with a fierceness that will bring tears to your eyes. He accepts the kids as he would his own and he accepts Cheyenne and all of her responsibilities, doubts, and imperfections, all the while suffering a silent torture of his own. I was torn between wanted to smack him and hug him.

All in all this book is very well put together with strong characters, a strong plot, and enough emotion to make the strongest person weep. I would highly recommend this book but be prepared to have your tissues ready. Great read!

The Secret Santa Wishing Well by Nikki Lynn Barrett

    Genre: Contemporary Romance

I have to premise this by saying I don't read a lot of holiday romance. It generally comes off feeling cliché and forced. I have thoroughly enjoyed everything I've read by Nikki Lynn Barrett so decided to give this one a read before her new book, On the 12th Date of Christmas is released next month.

I am SO glad I did!

Not to give away any spoilers, the story follows Cheyenne and Jacob as their worlds collide. As the two try to scratch together some sense of joy during a tumultuous Christmas season, the innocence of a child and a secret wish set in motion more than either could imagine.

Along with a beautiful holiday season, the author paints a picture many of us can relate to on some level. I saw so much of myself in Cheyenne before "my Jacob" came along. A woman full of doubt, fear, and little self-worth. Granted, it doesn't take a man to show a woman her true value, but I know from experience it may take that certain man's eyes and heart to bring that value to light.

Sometimes, as women and mothers, we get so lost in others we forget about ourselves. Nikki Lynn Barrett paints a beautiful story of love and self-discovery in The Secret Santa Wishing Well. I'm thankful I took the plunge! Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Christmas Story!!

Jacob Winston is going to pretend to be Santa over at the mall for Christmas, partly to appease his sister Ada who is very ill in the hospital. She thinks it may make a little happier during this difficult time.

When Ben Jensen sees Santa he knows exactly what he wants to wish for at Santa's Wishing Well and it's not for himself. Right away he bonds with Santa and when the next day his mom, Cheyenne takes him and his sister, Desiree, back to see Santa he knows he has found a very special Santa.

As Jacob and Cheyenne begin to get to know each other it is clear they both have feelings for each other. But as a single mom Cheyenne has more than just herself to think about and with her ex Eric showing up drunk at her house only wanting to see Ben she is very hesitant to get involved.

Jacob also has a lot on his plate with his sister's illness and his moodiness and secretiveness is holding Cheyenne back.

Will the two be able to figure everything out in time for a merry Christmas or will this Christmas be a little lonelier?

This book is a great Christmas story about the power of a wish! I absolutely loved Ben and the amazing character he was with the goodness in his heart, in spite of some of the things that went on around him. Cheyenne was an amazing mom to him and allowed his generous spirit to flourish and she helped him the best she could. I love that he made a wish for her and not for himself.

I can't imagine the struggles that Cheyenne faces with Eric and how he can not acknowledge Desiree. Cheyenne is doing an amazing job as a single mother but she deserves so much more. Jacob is so good for her but his moodiness scares Cheyenne with everything in her past with Eric. I was super sad about everything between Jacob and Cheyenne's dad and I'm glad they worked things through.

Jacob is such a good guy and I definitely felt bad at what he went through with his sister. He had his work cut out with him in dealing with Eric but I am so glad that he supported Cheyenne with everything!

I'm loving the relationship between Robin and Cheyenne and hope we get to see her story next!

I had some issues with events in this story that pulled me out of the story a few times. Firstly why on earth would you leave your children with a guy you've only known a few days? Who does that? And why would you let your young child go to stay with an aggressive drunk that the child is afraid of, I don't care if it is the child's father that's just asking for trouble. Without those things I think I'd have enjoyed the book more but it coloured my view of the character.
