The Mistletoe Kiss Kindle Edition
Christy’s life involves walking fine lines: one between his mother and his abusive stepfather, one where he must keep his needs hidden, and hardest of all, one where he must keep his feelings for his serious employer to himself.
Lame since birth, Lawrence cannot imagine anyone wanting him, least of all Christy. But when Christy’s life threatens to spiral out of control, Lawrence steps in. Then Christy’s emotions spill over into a kiss under the mistletoe at Christmas. Will Lawrence be able to face the long-buried truth about himself and keep Christy by his side?

About the author
My name is Ruby Moone and I love books. All kinds of books. My weakness is for romance, and that can be any kind, but I am particularly fond of historical and paranormal. I decided to write gay romance after reading some fantastic books and falling in love with the genre, so am really thrilled to have my work published here. The day job takes up a lot of my time, but every other spare moment finds me writing or reading. I live in the north west of England with my husband who thinks that I live in two worlds. The real world and in the world in my head...he probably has a point!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2017Ruby Moone has a way wish historical novellas and this one just cannot be beat for characters, plotline and pacing. Widowed bookseller Lawrence Fenton and his new young assistant, Napoleonic war veteran Christy Shaw, could not be more different in age, backgrounds, or spirit.
Both have secrets, mostly Christy's horrifying family situation and Lawrence's doomed marriage, but the plot line allows us to discover them at a leisurely pace (though some of the plot is a bit brutal).
What Ms. Moone gives us most of all is a simmering romance that when broached beneath the mistletoe throws both men for a complete loop, and when finally consummated sparks a conflagration that warms the hearth and your heart.
This is just a triumph. Get it, now, even if it's not Christmastime.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2017Positively delightful historical with a lovely cast of characters. Christy is a desperately poor young man who works in a bookshop owned by Lawrence Fenton. Mr. Fenton who is disabled, has come to rely upon Christy. Christy made some lovely improvements in the bookshop. His home life is dreadful. He lives near his mother in one of the horribly impoverished neighborhoods of London, St. Giles. His mother is married to a raging violent alcoholic who brought six kids to the marriage. Christy's life is centered around his work in the bookshop and his fondness for Mr. Fenton. Through subtle hints and actions, we find that Mr. Fenton, too, is enamored with Christy. The book highlights Christy's difficulties taking care his mom, becoming the precursor to Starbuck in the book shop :) and fighting his feelings for Mr. Fenton. This was so lovely. Evocative, emotional and compelling. The author takes an interesting swerve into some quite hot smexy time for our two MCs that I sort of wondered about - like where did Christy get THAT experienced - but anyway, I really enjoyed this. Great secondary characters, particularly Mrs. Anderton, one of the customers. Lovely holiday-themed HEA.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2020Bookshop Owner Mr Lawrence Fenton and his clerk Mr Christy Shaw find much more in common than the love of books. A charming historical and intriguing romance. Likable MCs, charming setting, and love-to-hate antagonist. A perfectly short holiday or any time read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2017The Mistletoe Kiss is a short Christmas novella featuring a young Christy (he is a guy btw) and his employer Lawrence. They have a great dynamic working together with Christy being a hard worker and Lawrence a caring employer. I think their relationship from the start is pretty sweet. However, Christy is dealing with some family issue and that drama sorta overtake the story and may have dampen my holiday mood slightly. I would have prefer we dedicate this short read to more sexy times between these two. The sudden forwardness towards the end by Christy seems a bit rush.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2021The historical setting has a touch of a Dickensian flair with a nasty villain and bits of grim reality, but overall it’s a nice holiday piece where even a beaten down gay man can find his quick, pat happily-ever-after holiday ending in an oppressive society.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2017If you are a Regency fan then Ruby's characters are simply irresistible. Tea, cakes, mistletoe and Christmas cheer! Highly recommended!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2017A fantastic story, beautifully written with all the vibes and feels of a Holiday story. If you love the world of Dickens, you should definitely read this book. The atmosphere, the hardships, even the language reminded me of Victorian England.
If it is difficult for two men to express their feelings for each other in the present, how hard it must have been in those days. Ruby Moone has captured the emotions and characters perfectly. It is a slow-burning love story, with the men tiptoeing around each other. The author builds up the sensual tension with every word and glance and with a gentleness that is heartwarming.
Mr. Fenton the slightly grouchy bookstore owner, who has a soft spot for Christy, the ragged young man who has the same love for books as he has. Despite his poor circumstances, Christy is a vibrant and sunny guy, who has a very positive look at life. He helps his mother as much as he can, but even he can’t prevent his drunken stepfather to cause damage wherever he goes. As much as Christy transforms the bookstore into a successful enterprise, Mr. Fenton flourishes under Christy’s sweetness and care. Christy’s presence is enough to let him believe in love.
I found this one of the best Holiday stories I have read this year.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2018I love emergency, Victorian romances add. In some Christmas, bookselling hea and I'm hooked. Glad that Christy and Lawrence were able to find each other and get Christy's mom away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Touching Story.
Oh I LOVED this adorable tale!! It was so nice to swing back in time for a historical MM romance, what I once read exclusively. There is pain and sorrow in these tales from a time when it was deadly to be discovered preferring your own kind, it adds spice but also angst to the story. Christy and Lawrence work together and secretly have feelings without the other knowing it, that is until disaster strikes in the form of Christy's drunken step-father. A wonderful read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good
A really easy, beautiful and well written book. I would have liked to be longer, but perhaps it was perfect just like this.Going over now to check the rest of the author's work.
